Sanguine Blends

It is widely accepted in the study of temperaments and related fields that individuals do not possess just one particular temperament. Due to our diverse ancestral backgrounds and upbringing, it is impossible for anyone to be a full-blown sanguine or choleric, or full-time melancholy or phlegmatic without combining different temperament categories. It is crucial to not solely focus on a person's primary temperament when analyzing and discussing the subject of temperament. Since individuals possess a combination of different temperament categories, it is necessary to consider the blends or combinations of these categories in greater detail. In essence, there exist twelve temperament combinations that every individual falls under. One of these combinations will be dominant and have a greater impact, while the other will be secondary and have a lesser impact but still be influential.

Sanguine-Melancholic

The Sanguine-Melancholic combination is driven by two temperamental needs: to be socially accepted and to do things right. This combination produces a people-person who is sensitive, creative, and detail-oriented. They are more formal and emotional than other Sanguine blends and can perform in front of others to meet the need of the moment. While they need to be with people most of the time, they also require alone time to think. They function best with a detailed plan, but may struggle with consistency and follow-through due to fear of failure. The Sanguine-Melancholic is a creative individual with an active imagination. They value recognition for their achievements and have a deep need for acceptance. While they may warm up slowly to new people, they become more friendly once they feel safe or accepted.

Sanguine-Phlegmatic

The Sanguine-Phlegmatic combination is driven by two temperamental needs: to be socially accepted and to be accommodating. This blend produces someone who is attentive to the needs of others, maintains lasting relationships, and is optimistic and full of hope. Sanguine-Phlegmatics tend to smile frequently and easily. They enjoy being around people but also need alone time to rest or sleep. They can be independent-minded and stubborn, but are very loyal to their friends. They have a calming and friendly presence, with a warm and empathetic approach that disarms those around them. They possess a casual poise in social situations and are perceived as approachable and good listeners. Although details and organization can be challenging, they excel in working with others due to their optimistic and accommodating nature.

Sanguine-Choleric

The Sanguine-Choleric combination is driven by two temperamental needs: to be socially accepted and to achieve results. This combination results in people who are goal-oriented and assertive. They are persuasive and make good debaters, seeking positions of leadership. They have an outgoing interest in others and strive to do business in a friendly way while pushing forward to win their objectives. Their expression is firm, lively, and friendly. The Sanguine-Choleric personality type excels in event coordination and is open to delegating responsibilities. They may struggle with details, organization, and consistency, preferring to rely on others for information rather than conducting their own research.
